We advocate for the integration of high-quality ultrasound in General Internal Medicine through knowledge sharing, research, and a strong network of national experts.
We recognize that ultrasound is becoming an essential component of postgraduate training in General Internal Medicine, and we actively support and help shape this transition.
Founded in September 2023, the USIM group is supported both financially and logistically by SGAIM/SSMIG (Swiss Society General Internal Medicine)

The Future of POCUS in General Internal Medicine: From Enthusiasts to Departmental Standards (Speaker: Prof. Juan Torres-Macho)
Prof. Juan Torres-Macho is Head of the Department of Internal Medicine, University Hospital Infanta Leonor–Virgen de la Torre (Madrid), Associate Professor at the Complutense University of Madrid, and former Chair of the EFIM Ultrasound Working Group (2019–2023).
In this webinar, he will share the experience of developing and leading a high-volume Internal Medicine POCUS program, drawing on his extensive work in education and European collaboration. Participants will gain practical insights into how to establish a sustainable training center, integrate POCUS into residency programs and ensure quality.
